Take a Seat: Road Trip Geography   Whether you are exploring your neighborhood, your city, the United States, or the world, you need to understand how cities, countries, and continents make up the world. Geography is the study of places around the world and how they connect with each other. When you learn about geography, you learn about maps, physical places and landmarks, cultures, and how all of it ties together. Traveling by car across the United States or taking a seat on a plane headed around the world can be great ways to learn about geography, but you can get started learning about this subject just by looking at maps.    From Elliot

I tried it and it didn’t work for me, either. I’m afraid it might just be a case of an old extension, which hasn’t been updated in quite some time, not being compatible with the latest versions of Chrome. Pity!

Better Grades

Don't judge me by my past; I don't live there anymore. Judge me on my merits because my potential is in my future.” Unknown

I don’t know who said this but I find it refreshing to know that you can start over from scratch in spite of whatever past you had. The future is always fresh and new, and the following links are things to think about the new directions your life may take. Education is the right path to get there.

How to Memorize Anything Quickly

8 tips for studying smarter.    The majority of students study by re-reading notes and textbooks — but the psychologists' research, both in lab experiments and of actual students in classes, shows this is a terrible way to learn material. Using active learning strategies — like flashcards, diagramming, and quizzing yourself — is much more effective, as is spacing out studying over time and mixing different topics together.”

Doc   add-ons:

If you use Google Docs  as a text editor, there are “add ons” that will make your life much easier.  The following image contains the “add ons” that I keep on hand when I am using Google Docs:

Charts, Doc to forms, doc tools,  easy bib, grade proof, highlight summarizer, mind master, one looks thesaurus, pro-writing aid, Ryan Finder,    scribble writer,  SAS writerScorc’D, table of contents,  spotlight annotator, WriteFull  thesaurus,Writora Alpha.

A great sample of the Google “add ons”:

SAS Writing Reviser  —  This add-on provides students with feedback about their writing and enables them to address a range of potential writing problems, including weak verbs, excess prepositional phrases, dangling modifiers, and faulty sentence structure. By learning to ask questions experienced writers ask automatically, students begin to express themselves with greater precision and power.

As A Final Thought, Here Is Something to Think About:

“From this distant vantage point, the Earth might not seem of particular interest. But for us, it's different. Consider again that dot. That's here, that's home, that's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every “ uperstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.

Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.

The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.

It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.” ― Carl SaganPale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space

“A blade of grass is a commonplace on Earth; it would be a miracle on Mars. Our descendants on Mars will know the value of a patch of green. And if a blade of grass is priceless, what is the value of a human being?” ― Carl SaganPale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space

“Or consider a story in the Jewish Talmud left out of the Book of Genesis. (It is in doubtful accord with the account of the apple, the Tree of Knowledge, the Fall, and the expulsion from Eden.) In The Garden, God tells Eve and Adam that He has intentionally left the Universe unfinished. It is the responsibility of humans, over countless generations, to participate with God in a "glorious" experiment - the "completing of the Creation." The burden of such a responsibility is heavy, especially on so weak and imperfect a species as ours, one with so unhappy a history. Nothing remotely like "completion" can be attempted without vastly more knowledge than we have today. But, perhaps, if our very existence is at stake, we will find ourselves able to rise to this supreme challenge.” ― Carl SaganPale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space
